HVAC Existing System Replacement

What to know about your HVAC replacement service

Over time, HVAC systems need to be replaced whether it’s due to old age or your system completely braking. When its time for you to update your system, there are some points to consider before installing.

  1. Consider the size of the unit you need- The size of the unit you will need is dependent on the size of your home and the type of climate you live in.
  2. Do your research- Check ratings to see what systems provide the best service. Find the type of replacement you’re looking for.
  3. Energy Saving- Consider what system will provide you with the most energy savings. If you have an old, out-dated HVAC system, you probably have spent a decent amount of money on your heating and cooling. By replacing your old system with a new system, you will save more money due to the updated technology in the HVAC world.
  4. Ductwork- If you are replacing a unit in an older home, chance are you may need to get your ductwork checked over or fully replaced. Gaps and holes can result in heat loss. Having proper ductwork will ensure your system is operating at maximum efficiency.

Potential Savings

See what you can expect to save below by installing a higher seer unit in your house. These ratings are based on air conditioning usage and may vary from house to house based on personal usage, temperature settings and ductwork conditions.

HVAC New Construction Systems

Since 1996 Bryan’s Heating & Air has been fortunate to be able to install new systems into hundreds of new home in the community. We start first by providing a room by room load calculation for the entire house.
Second we figure out which system is best suited for your situation and budget.

Third we will then install a sealed duct system (supply and return) and use the load calculation to insure that each room receives the required sided duct work to supply the required air needed to maintain the desired temperature for each room.

Fourth, we also will vent all appliances (dryer, range and bath fans) to required locations.

We pride ourselves with installing the best duct systems available due to the fact that all joints and seams are sealed with mastics to prevent air leakage, each piece of duct is then insulated with R-8 duct wrap insulation, all flex duct installed will have an R-8 insulation value.

A zoned system is designed for those hard to heat and cool areas of your house, office etc. or for areas that you simply want to maintain at different temperatures throughout the day.

Zoning is simple and is achieved by installing multiple thermostats, mechanical zone dampers in the duct system and a zone control board which controls the zone system.

HVAC Maintenance

The smartest plan to extend the life of your HVAC system components is to keep them in proper working order. Just like your car or truck, your HVAC system is a mechanical device. You can’t expect good gas mileage if your tires are nearly flat, or a smooth ride if your engine is clogged with carbon deposits

You wouldn’t take a long drive without checking the gas in your car or getting it tuned up; taking on a Wilmington, NC summer without preventative HVAC maintenance is just as unwise. In both cases, you could find yourself stranded on a weekend night with steam coming out your ears.

HVAC Air Filters – HVAC Maintenance 101

All central air conditioning systems have filters that must be cleaned or replaced frequently. If your home has furry family members, or is located in a high dust environment, you’ll need more HVAC maintenance than homes without these air quality contaminants. If you don’t wash or replace your central air system filters this will contribute to a less efficient heat exchange rate causing wasted energy (higher electric bills) and shortened equipment life.

Because the clogged air filters slow air flow, this can lead to “iced up” or “frozen lines” or evaporator coils, which then completely stop air flow. Now you’ve got dirty filters, no air flow, and a hot (or cold) house!

Beyond that, very dirty HVAC system filters can cause overheating during a heating cycle. This could cause costly damage to your air conditioning and ventilating equipment, and even cause a fire. It’s the same principle that public safety messages warn of; the dangers of dryer fires caused by dirty vents and screens.

HVAC Coil Cleaning & Air Conditioning Service

Since a central air conditioner transfers heat back and forth from the indoor coil and the outdoor coil, you have to make sure both are kept clean. For good HVAC maintenance, you have to not only clean or replace your AC filters regularly, but you have to regularly clean the condenser coil. The condenser coil is responsible for discharging both the indoor heat collected by the evaporator and the heat generated by the electric motor driving the compressor. Failure to keep the condenser coil clean will eventually cause damage to the compressor, which is one of the most expensive parts to replace.
